Certificate and Diploma of Arts in Music

The courses in this program provide a wholistic study on Christian music, worship, history, and composition of music.

The Diploma in Music Ministry is designed for those who are involved or leading in the Worship Ministry. This program can serve as the elective and specialization for the Bachelor of Practical Theology program.

At this time, the instrument studies are centred on the keyboard. Additional instrument instruction will be provided soon.

KEYBOARD FOUNDATIONS 101 (CHORDS)

  • This introductory course is designed for individuals seeking to enhance their keyboard skills for worship settings. Students will learn essential piano techniques, focusing on the basic chords and music theory in the key of C, tailored specifically for playing gospel songs. Additionally, the course integrates theological discussion to deepen understanding of the role of music in worship.

FIELD EDUCATION

50 hours

  • This course provides the practical hands-on component to the Diploma program. In this section, the student is expected to participate in 50 hours of music ministry practicum at an approved ministry setting—in a community setting. This practical course is designed to enable students to start or continue to refine their call to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19). The framework of field education will require the student to develop a strategy for missions that is demonstrative of the integration of practice and theory. Students will be encouraged to situate their work within the context of their social environment.
